LL COOL J On Staying Grounded: 'Successful People Forget About Danger'

LL COOL J was a recent guest on Fat Joe Talks, where he discussed how he stays grounded. "I always kept my crib in New York," LL said. "You can't forget where you come from. Even on the album, on '30 Decembers', I talked about how during the pandemic I went all over the city with a black mask on. I was on the subway, the bus, in the projects. I wanted to see what was going o in the world. I'd been in a bubble for too long."

LL went on to explain that many people who acquire a level of success forget about danger. "They forget about the smell of urine in the projects, so many people in the projects cooking food that you get a smell that's like sweet, sour , and every ethnic style of food. How can you make music for people that you can't relate to," he asked.

Fat Joe Talks premiered on 10/4, and is Starz's first weekly series. According to the network, later guests to include Mary J. Blige, Hakeem Jeffries, Babyface, T.I., and more. "I've walked that walk, now watch me talk that talk," Joe says in the trailer for the series.
