Ice Cube Closes Deal With Warner Bros. And New Line For New 'Friday' Movie

New Line President Richard Brener revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that Ice Cube has reached a deal to write and star in a new Friday movie for Warner Brothers. The film is titled Last Friday and marks the first in 20 years, following 2002's Friday After Next.

Cube wrote the original Friday (1995) with DJ Pooh, and starred in all three installments, including 2000's Next Friday, and the aforementioned Friday After Next. New Line developed all of the films in the trilogy, before being sold to Warner brothers who then retained the rights.

Last year Cube discussed the possibility of a new Friday with Flavor Flav's on his Flavor Of The Week show on LL COOL J's Rock The Bells Radio. "We finally got some traction with Warner Brother's," he announced. "We’re working on it. They have new leadership, my man Mike De Luca, who used to be at New Line when I first started, when I first did the first Friday, Player’s Club, and All About the Benjamins, you know, Mike De Luca was there.”
