Will Smith recently appeared on Lyrical Lemonade where he dropped "Bounce Back", just days after releasing his latest full length project, Based On A True Story. Will spits: “I be overcoming shit that y’all be having trouble wit/Let ’em run they mouths/I mean really that’s what comes with this/They built a wall but I’m jumping it and loving it/They want me to be done with it/But I’m still havin’ fun with it,” seemingly addressing the fallout from his 2022 assault of Chris Rock.

Smith released Based On A True Story, his first full length album in 20 years on March 28. The 14 song project includes features by Joyner Lucas, Jaden, Big Sean, Teyana Taylor, and others. In an interview on Sway In The Morning, Smith revealed that he sought advice from Jay-Z and Kendrick Lamar before starting the project.

"Jay said 'Don't fake your story, stay true to you. You'll be looking at the younger rappers and wanting that to be true for you, but you don't live like that'", he said. Kendrick's advice was, "Man just say that shit you've always been scared to say. Be honest."
