In honor of the much-anticipated return of the Rock The Bells Festival, which is being held in LL COOL J's hometown, Queens, NY for the first time, the legendary rapper/actor "flipped the switch" to light the Empire State Building light blue yesterday (Aug. 5).

"Honored to have the ⁦Empire State Building turned cyan blue as New York celebrates the Rock the Bells Festival coming to my hometown," he wrote on Twitter.

The Rock The Bells Festival, taking place Aug. 6, is a day-long celebration curated by LL COOL J featuring performances by LL COOL J feat. Z-Trip, Ice Cube, Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes, Lil Kim, The Diplomats ft. Cam’ron, Jim Jones & Juelz Santana, Fat Joe & Remy Ma, Jadakiss, Scarface performing 20th anniversary of The Fix, Trina, Digable Planets and Queen’s native artists N.O.R.E, Onyx, Havoc of Mobb Deep & Large Professor.

Partial proceeds from ticket sales to the Universal Hip-Hop Museum in the Bronx, which just received a $5.5 million investment. The museum will open in a 52,000-square-foot space at the Bronx Point development at Mill Pond Park, and will include gallery spaces, a black box theater, interactive exhibits and more. It's the only state chartered educational museum dedicated to celebrating and preserving local and global contributions to hip hop music and culture.
