Toronto native Samantha Samaka has received a $40,000 scholarship from Roc Nation School of Music to attend Long Island University for four years.
Samantha posted a thank you to Jay-Z and BeyoncΓ© on Twitter. "Thank you so much for my tuition being paid" she posted. "I love @Beyonce and Jay-Z! Honored to be the first Black woman from Toronto to be accepted into Jay-Z's School of Music."
Jay-Z's Roc Nation partnered with Long Island University to launch Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entertainment. The Brooklyn-based school allows students to obtain undergraduate degrees in music technology, entrepreneurship, and sports management. Jay-Z's long-time engineer Young Guru recently joined the school as director of the music technology and production program.
