It's been 30 years since Snoop Dogg released his landmark 1993 debut album, Doggystyle, and he's celebrating the occasion with a special anniversary show.
Snoop Dogg & Friends: 30th Anniversary of Doggystyle & More and produced by Dr. Dre will take place at the Hollywood Bowl this summer. Snoop will be joined by special guests and the ReCollective Orchestra will back up the performance with acclaimed producer/bassist Derrick Hodge will serve as conductor. Snoop and Hodge appeared on stage together last summer when Snoop was a headliner for the Blue Note Jazz Festival in Napa, curated by Hodge's longtime friend/collaborator Robert Glasper. At the time, the Hip-Hop legend expressed his excitement about performing with a live band, and some of the most celebrated names in the new jazz movement, including producer/saxophonist Terrace Martin, who Snoop has long been associated with, and also joined the rap icon on stage.
In addition to celebrating the album, Snoop previously announced an upcoming collaboration project with Dre called Missionary, which he said was due out this summer.
As for the show, Snoop Dogg & Friends: 30th Anniversary of Doggystyle & More and produced by Dr. DreĀ takes place on June 27 and June 28 at the Hollywood Bowl.
