On this week's episode of Salute the Sample, ROCK THE BELLS' exclusive series where L COOL J, Greg Nice, and DJ Z-Trip breakdown the origin of some of Hip-Hop’s most beloved samples, the trio takes a deep dive into Lou Reed's 1972 gem, "Take a Walk On the Wild Side."

The track was sampled by A Tribe Called Quest on their classic 1990 call-and-response- track, "Can I Kick It?" from their debut, People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm. The track quickly became one of Tribe's signature songs, with the Lou Reed sample fitting the energy and tone perfectly.
