Jay-Z Addresses Biggie Comparisons On New Pusha T Collab "Neck & Wrist"

Pusha T has dropped a new Pharrell-produced track called “Neck & Wrist” that also features Jay–Z. On the track, Jay addresses some long-talked about comparisons and narratives concerning The Notorious B.I.G. and Jay’s own rise to stardom.

“They like if BIG was alive Hov wouldn’t be in this position/ If BIG had survived y’all would have got the commission/ Hov was always gon’ be Hov /it was the universes will cus’ Allah said so.

The Commission is a supergroup that Biggie referenced in the intro of his track “What’s Beef” on his acclaimed sophomore album Life After Death. The group consisted of The Notorious B.I.G., Jay and rap diva Charli Baltimore initially; and eventually included Diddy (Puff Daddy at the time) and Biggie's longtime sidekick Lil Cease. Jay’s cryptic reference is likely connected to Dame Dash’s 2017 interview with Hip Hop Motivation where Dame claimed that Biggie planned to sign with Roc-A-Fella Records and proceed with The Commission.

“Biggie’s plan was give Puff and them like three more albums then come sign with us, and we was gon’ do The Commission," Dame said at the time. "That was what was gonna happen, or at least that’s what was talked about very seriously. I think that’s why he did a double album. He was gonna do a triple album, and he was gonna be out his contract, and then he was gonna come fuck with us.”

Hov also addressed comedian Faizon Love’s 2020 Vlad TV claim that Jay-Z was never the drug lord that he says in his music, but was merely a puppet instead.

With the phase I’m on love, I wouldn’t believe it either/I’d be like Jay -Z’s a cheater/I wouldn’t listen to reason either/all I know is he’s a felon/how is he sellin?” Jay also took the opportunity to remind naysayers and competition of his wealth: “They put my name on lists with these rappers inexplicably/I’ll put your mansion on my wall are you shittin’ me?”

Pusha T and his management claim that the new album is on its way.
