Fredro Starr made an appearance on B-Real's The Dr. Greenthumb Show on Thursday (January 5), where the Onyx legend made the announcement that he's hanging things up pretty soon. Starr indicated that he plans to retire from music after this year.

“You supposed to say: ‘I’m gonna retire,'" Fredro said. "You gotta make the comeback. Michael Jordan did it. Guess what? I’m retiring too this year. After this year, I’m done. All jokes in side pocket."

Onyx released their latest albums World Take Over and Onyx Versus Everybody in 2021, appeared at the ROCK THE BELLS Festival that August and also co-starred alongside B-Real in an entry in the popular battle series Verzuz. But Fredro says he's ready to move on.

“I’m retiring man. Thirty years of Hip Hop. This is the last year. I’m retiring. Don’t call me for no verses, nothing. I might do a show here and there.”

Host B-Real replied by saying that he's taking time off this year.

“I’m done," he said. "I’ll be back in 2024 but this year, I’m totally retired."
