Erick Sermon of EPMD and Def Squad is entering into the world of virtual reality, NFTs and the metaverse; joining fellow Hip-Hop stars Snoop Dogg, Method Man and The Arabian Prince in launching an NFT. The Sermon-led Def Squad is entering the metaverse with its GenEsis Collection of Decentraland wearables. It will feature five limited-edition designs of the iconic Def Squad Varsity jackets, modeled and minted by dapphaus, a software development company that specializes in blockchain industries.

The jackets, developed as a series of 5000 limited edition NFTs, will only be available in the Decentraland Metaverse.

They will be released during an exclusive Erick Sermon concert on May 6.

“We’re demystifying the metaverse by making it relatable and accessible to the masses," Joey Caturay, dapphaus CEO said in a statement. "And Canada, with its thriving tech community & huge hip-hop culture is the perfect place for us to execute our mission.”

Initial purchasers of the Def Squad jackets will receive an NFT Def Squad Metaverse Snapback Hat as an airdrop shortly after the launch and purchase of any of the GenEsis Collection allows entry into the Def Squad Metaverse Club.
