Although an official announcement is still pending, Jermaine Dupri will keep be keeping himself busy. The producer/CEO is celebrating the 30th anniversary of his label, So So Def with a festival.
Dupri, who launched the careers of Da Brat, Kris Kross, Bow Wow, Xscape and more teased the upcoming festival on Instagram. He suggested the festival will take place Sept. 29-Oct. 1 in Atlanta. In addition to the festival, JD released a collaborative EP with Curren$y, For Motivational Use Only, Vol 1 in April. The seven-track project features 2 Chainz and T.I., who offered an assist on the track, "Never Fall Off."
Beyond music news, Dupri is also tapping into television. He's set to produce a new Hulu documentary about Freaknik alongside Uncle Luke. Freaknik: The Wildest Party Never Told “ recounts the rise and fall of a small Atlanta HBCU picnic that exploded into an influential street party and spotlighted ATL as a major cultural stage,” per Hulu’s description.
As for Diddy, he's reportedly working on a new reality series for Hulu, though no official announcement has been made. The reality show would be Diddy's latest venture into TV, following news that he's looking to buy BET. According to Variety, sources close to the Hip-Hop mogul said in April he's “exploring the opportunity to purchase BET as a part of his strategy to build a Black-owned global media powerhouse."
