Boot Camp Clik is celebrating 30 years since they first recorded together and Rock The Bells has partnered with the super group to celebrate their impact and influence in Hip-Hop and release their first song and video in over a decade, "Wotcha Call Strength," featuring Buckshot, Smif-N-Wessun (Tek & Steele), Rock from Heltah Skeltah and O.G.C (Starang Wondah, Top Dog, and Louieville Sluggah).
Hailing from Brooklyn, NY, Boot Camp Clik blasted onto the scene three decades ago. The supergroup is comprised of Buckshot, Smif-N-Wessun (Tek & Steele), Rockness Monsta from Heltah Skeltah, O.G.C (Starang Wondah, Top Dog, and Louieville Sluggah) and long time Sean Price protege Ruste Juxx.
“Rock and Ruste killed it. I just had to chop and bag the beat," Buckshot said of the hard-hitting new track, which was produced by Boston-based producer Arcitype, who has previously worked with Sean Price, as well as Smoke DZA, Royce Da 5'9" and more.
In honor of Hip-Hop's 50th year, Dru Ha, CEO of Duck Down Records said he felt the BCC's catalog of work, contributions, incredible influence and legacy "needed to be recognized properly."
"Partnering with Rock the Bells was the icing on the cake," Dru Ha said. "Not only did they provide resources, but the indirect endorsement from Hip-Hop Royalty in LL COOL J adds even more credibility to the single, and helped solidify the marketing campaign that will be capped with a full BCC performance at The Rock The Bells Festival."
The video for "Wotcha Call Strength" was directed by David Janoff of Janoff Films, and was set at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, NY — the site of this year's Rock The Bell Festival where the Boot Camp Clik will also be performing on August 5th. The iconic, April Walker styled the group for the energetic video.
Additionally, Boot Camp Clik and Rock The Bells have partnered on a limited edition collaboration in celebration of the new song, which will be available exclusively at Rock The Bells on Saturday, July 15th.
