The Boot Camp Clik dropped their debut full-length album For The People in May of 1997.
The Clik, consisting of Originoo Gun Cappas, Black Moon, Cocoa Brovas (formerly Smif -N- Wessun) and Heltah Skeltah, first appeared together on "Cession At Da Doghillee" from Smif-N-Wessun's 1994 debut album, Dah Shinin'.
For The People featured mostly live instrumentation, assuming a different direction from their previous Beat Minerz-produced projects. For The People was produced by Buckshot of Black Moon, Tony Touch, Shawn J Period, EZ Elpee, Mark "Boogie" Brown, BJ Swan, Shaleek and Louieville Sluggah. The project produced the singles "Headz Are Reddee Pt. II," "Night Riders" and "Oh Kee Doke"/"Illa Noiz."
