Wayne Shaw, the older brother of Oakland rapper Too Short was murdered in an East Oakland botched robbery on Wednesday (1/29). Shaw, 61 years old was shot multiple times around 7 a.m. during an attempted robbery at a marijuana grow house located in the 1200 block of 49th Ave. He was taken to Highland Hospital where he later died from his injuries. No arrests have been made and the police are looking for multiple suspects according to The Mercury Times.

The shooting occured after a vehicle crashed into the grow house in an attempt to gain entry in what police believe was a robbery attempt. Shaw exited the building, where he had been sleeping and was confronted by the assailants who shot him several times. The shooting happened not far from Too $hort Way, which was recently renamed after Too Short.

Terry Butler, also known as Terry T spoke of the love that Shaw received in the community, and the relationship between the siblings. "The streets really respected him. He really was somebody who people looked at for advice. It’s not easy living in the shadow of a brother who was famous, and he was one of the greatest shadows you’d ever meet, because he embraced the shadow.”

R.I.P. Wayne Shaw.
