B-Real Expresses Frustrations After Cypress Hill/Onyx Verzuz

Onyx and Cypress Hill faced off in the latest entry in the popular Verzuz battle series. The two iconic rap groups brought tremendous energy to their classic catalogs of hits; including favorites like "Slam" and "Insane In the Brain." But there was a bit of controversy involving this particular Verzuz; as ongoing commentary online revealed that many fans didn't even know it was taking place.

On Sunday (May 15), Cypress Hill frontman B-Real posted an Instgram video, voicing his displeasure with the way this particular Verzuz entry was handled.

"I have to say although it was great to rock w/ our brothers @ONYX_HQ in the Verzuz battle," he wrote. "I feel like @verzuzonline shorted us all by not running it on Ig live like all other battles. They made it a ppv event & made the battle a side show for the boxing matches instead. IMO"

Unlike previous Verzuz competitions, this particular battle wasn't broadcast via Instagram Live at all; one had to be a subscribing member of Triller to watch or comment on the proceedings. It removed the fan interactive element of the show, and B-Real felt it robbed them of some necessary promotion and participation.

"I'm just disappointed that y'all didn't get to see it here on IG," B-Real says in the video. "Because Verzuz didn't run it live for some fuckin' reason."

The concert was held in Los Angeles at the Forum in Inglewood, and the Verzuz battle was treated as a side event for the boxing matches, which further added to the confusion. The livestream was part of the TrillVerz 5's "Fight Night Music" event, featuring a boxing match between Sergey Kovalev and Tervel Pulev.
