Sha-Rock and MC G.L.O.B.E. Collab on New Track

MC Sha-Rock of The Funky 4 + 1 and MC G.L.O.B.E. of The Soul Sonic Force have released a new single, "Scratches, Cuts And The MC's Rhymes."

The single was originally a tribute to the late DJ Whiz Kid, who was once a part of the Funky 4 Plus One, and also served as G.L.O.B.E.'s DJ on the classic 1983 single, "Play That Beat Mr. DJ."

"I was working with DJ Laz-E of The Plastic Attack out of Ireland and I wanted to dedicate a track to the DJ's," G.L.O.B.E. told Rock The Bells. "I only wanted to work with someone who I had a lot of respect for, and who had worked with my DJ Whiz Kid on the past. I decided that I wanted a girl and I wanted Sha-Rock. Originally it was gonna be just me and a DJ Scratching, but no one can fill Whiz Kid's shoes."

The track is a celebration of the 40th anniversary of "Play That Beat Mr. DJ" which was released on Tommy Boy Records and celebrated for Whiz Kid's innovative scratches and G.L.O.B.E.'s dope rhymes and unique cadence. "Sha-Rock brought it and she said that she was emulating me," G.L.O.B.E. said of their studio experience.

MC G.L.O.B.E. and MC Sha Rock are not strangers to each other or working on the same projects. Both MCs are members of early Bronx crews, even working together on the seminal Hip-Hop film, Beat Street together.

"I heard Sha before I actually saw her," G.L.O.B.E. said. "DJ Breakout of The Brothers Disco (who were the DJ's for the Funky 4) used to play in a schoolyard next to my building called 110 schoolyard and at 63 Park on Boston Road. I'd hear her voice on the way to 63 Park. I also grew up with her group members KK Rockwell and Keith Caesar. We were all B Boys at one point."

It's an honor to be on a track with MC Globe for the 40th anniversary of 'Play That Beat.' Shout out to G.L.O.B.E., Resume Recordings and all who were involved in making this a dope song. We dedicate this joint to all of the DJs, MCs B-Boys and B-Girls. It's just in time for the 50th Anniversary of Hip-Hop Culture
