On a recent episode of Kid 'N Play's Fun House Podcast Roxanne Shante described Queensbridge Houses and its artists as the Motown of Hip-Hop. "Seeing Marley Marl get his flowers and everything he deserves was an honor for me," Shante said of Marley's recent I Am Hip-Hop award. "I remember that day walking to the laundromat, and that's where 'Roxanne's Revenge' started.

When you think of all the people that went through Marley's house - MC Shan, Rakim, Biz Markie, Big Daddy Kane, Masta Ace, Tragedy Khadafi, and Nas it's amazing because we didn't even know that we were gonna become a Juice Crew." Shante says that Marley turned his apartment to a studio and aspiring musician would camp out, even sleeping on the floor.

Its 96 buildings stretch over six city blocks and it’s been described as a city within itself.
