The Dope Era Museum, Mistah F.A.B.'s latest endeavor launched a soft opening over the weekend with a special '90s themed party. F.A.B. told NBC News that the project was previously called 'The 90's Experience.'

"It was just a collection of '90s exhibits and arts," the Oakland born MC explained. "My heroes and icons and people that I grew up on have murals here. My rap dad Too $hort, my childhood hero [MC Hammer], and the blueprint for social recognition of Black identity, Huey Newton [Black Panther Party leader]."

F.A.B, who says that he suffers with anxiety, plans to also add a mental health space and break down the stigma surrounding mental health.

"More than anything I want to turn this into a campus," he says. "All of the businesses that we've opened allocate space for campuses. I want to provide an alternative for these kids and show them that you don't have to sell dope, pimp, rob and steal."

Drake praised Oakland and the Bay areas influence on his music at a recent show there. "There are so many legendary rappers who have that formed the sound like my brother Too $hort," he told the crowd. "I was able to take what I learned from the Bay Area and apply it to music, so I appreciate you, and I say that to say that there would be no Drake and some of my greatest songs if not for the foundation that the Bay Area laid in Hip-Hop music."

The Dope Era Museum is located at 1764 Broadway Oakland, CA.
