Culture Creators, a leading organization dedicated to uplifting and honoring influential figures in the entertainment industry, has announced that MC Lyte will be honored as an ICON at this Saturday's Innovators & Leaders Awards brunch.

The event marks the 7th anniversary of the awards ceremony and celebrates 50 years of Hip-Hop. The brunch is described by Culture Creators as, "the ultimate culture collision" and will be hosted by award winning on-air talent, content creator, entertainment journalist, and podcaster, Gia Peppers.

Busta Rhymes, Karl Kani, Chloe Bailey, Halle Bailey, Troy Carter, Candace Rodney, and Stephen Hill are also amongst this years honorees.

MC Lyte recently presented I Am Woman 2: A Celebration of Women In Hip-Hop at the prestigious Kennedy Center with Bahamadia, Kash Doll, Rapsody, and Mama Sol. The Brooklyn wordsmith was also honored with Grandmaster Flash recently at the RIAA Honors: Pioneers of Hip Hop Ceremony in the nation's capital.

Rapsody performed a rendition of Lyte's 1991 hit, "Poor Georgie," and legendary West Coast MC, Yo-Yo, introduced MC Lyte and declared her "A three-time RIAA certified gold award winner, who the public knew was special since her 1988 debut Lyte As A Rock."

Lyte was also honored with the LEGEND Award at the BET Her Awards earlier this year for her work as a groundbreaking Hip-Hop artist, voice-over artist, motivational speaker and entrepreneur.

Lyte is one of Hip Hop's most celebrated MCs, beginning her solo career in 1988 with her acclaimed debut Lyte As a Rock. In addition to a successful recording career that spanned well into the 1990s, she has been a spokesperson for issues that affect women both in and outside of Hip-Hop.

She's set to perform at the Rock The Bells Festival on August 5 in Queens, NY.
