Kendrick Lamar's latest album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers is the first Hip-Hop album in 2022 to cross one billion streams on Spotify, according to Chart Data. Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in May and has since gone on to earn critical-acclaim for its deeply observational examinations of love, relationships, self-worth and Black trauma.

During a recent interview with Citizen, Kendrick touched on a range of things — from fame to how he views himself and the impact of his art as he's matured, to his role as a father of two young children.

"Now, I'm dropping the ego a bit. I want to take 'the greatest' off of it," he said. "I want to give people something they can hold onto. So whether it touches 100 million people or inspires one, I want to be that person.”

Kendrick is currently on the North American leg of his Big Steppers Tour, which wraps in September.
