Kendrick Lamar is on the cover of the new issue of Citizen, which was produced by an all Ghanian crew. "There is no crew flown in from far away places. There is David, there is Ekow, there is Sarah. All Ghanaian, all home," the publication affirmed in an Instagram post, adding there are several covers of the Kendrick.

During the interview, Kendrick touched on a range of things — from fame to how he views himself and the impact of his art as he's matured, to his role as a father of two young children.

"Now, I'm dropping the ego a bit. I want to take 'the greatest' off of it," says Kendrick, who years ago proclaimed his dominance over prominent rap artists of the time on "Control." "I want to give people something they can hold onto. So whether it touches 100 million people or inspires one, I want to be that person.”

In another portion of the story, he talks about his kids, a three-year-old daughter and an infant son.

"I got children now. I want them to see things that I wasn't privy to and be able to experience things outside of what they know," he said.

He also talked about fame, and how's he's maintained his sense of self over the years as his popularity heightened.

“If I feel I have to remove myself, I just remove myself," he said. "I won’t complain about it. I won’t cause a big blow-up or a
big stir and let the world know that the walls are closing in...”

Kendrick's most recent album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, dropped earlier this year. He's currently the North American leg of his Big Steppers Tour, which wraps in September.
