The NFL is partnering with Ice Cube to combat the growing wealth gap in America by aiding Black-owned businesses.

The league has reportedly committed over $100 million to causes that assist Cube's Contract With Black America (CWBA) initiative that he founded with media executive Jeff Kwatinetz during the 2020 presidential campaign. The CWBA calls for the NFL to direct more business to Black-owned companies in various sectors including consumer services and technology.

"We will concentrate on direct and indirect spend to national Black businesses to help close America's racial and economic wealth gap," the NFL said in a statement announcing the venture.

The contract contains a "Sports Industry Economic Development Plan" which requests that sports leagues and teams hire exclusively Black companies for food vendors in stadiums, including more Black manufacturers, production companies and marketing and advertising agencies in league operations. Ice Cube reportedly wants other leagues including MLB, MLS and the NBA to participate, but says that he has not heard from the NBA.

"The NBA should be doing this without a doubt," Cube said. "They should not be ignoring us when it comes to this."

Kwatinetz who is the co-founder of the BIG 3 league with Cube told Forbes magazine that the CWBA aims for Black businesses to obtain 25 percent of annual contracts for top NFL events like the Super Bowl.
