Eminem made history on Sunday night (February 13), along with Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, and Mary J. Blige as they hit the stage for a legendary performance at the Super Bowl Pepsi LVI Halftime show.

Right before Dr. Dre sat down to the white grand piano to play the intro to Tupac Shakur’s 1996 single “I Ain’t Mad At Cha,” Em took a knee, honoring Colin Kaepernick’s ongoing fight for racial equality. Rumors the National Football League prohibited Shady from performing the politically-charged gesture proved to be false, according to The New York Post.

Sports Illustrated‘s Albert Breer also confirmed no rules were broken per the NFL’s spokesperson Brian McCarthy. “Report was erroneous,” McCarthy told Breer. “We watched all elements of the show during numerous rehearsals this week.”

The ensemble of hip-hop greats delivered an entertaining set dedicated to classic West Coast hip-hop, including low riders, Crip-walking, and a cameo from 50 Cent, and over 400 professional dancers and volunteer cast participants.

The roughly 15-minute performance ended with “Still D.R.E.” and the controversial lyric, “still not loving police.” Just two weeks before the big game, Newsmax host, Greg Kelly, suggested that the NFL was “anti-American” for having Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre perform at The Big Game.

“F the NFL. They’re anti-American. They’re 1,000% woke.” Kelly said during the news broadcast. “They barely show the National Anthem anymore. I can’t watch. Not with Snoop Dogg and his boys doing their disgusting nonsense.”

Hip-hop fans were mostly united when it came to their opinions on Eminem’s gesture. Check out some of the reactions via Twitter below.
