Daz Dillinger Suggests Verzuz Between Tha Dogg Pound and OutKast

Daz Dillinger recently sat down with B High ATL and discussed everything from his musical legacy and hits with 2Pac, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre to the state of R&B, to why he's happy to be paying property taxes instead of paying rent.

But one of the standout parts of the conversation was when he suggested he wanted to do a Verzuz with Dogg Pound and OutKast, since they're "fam" anyway.

"We've got 30 years worth of music," the Grammy-nominated rapper/producer emphasized, noting his and Kurupt's long catalogs consisting of solo and group projects. Plus, he added, he has the production side of things to throw into the mix as well. "It's a long catalog," Daz, who said he officially retired from rap earlier this year, said. "I like to separate my hit songs from the street songs."

Daz established himself as a standout producer while on Death Row, playing an instrumental role in shaping its sound alongside Dr. Dre, and working on Dre's classic The Chronic, before handling a lot of the production on Snoop's classic debut, Doggystyle. His work on the 1994 soundtracks Above the Rim and Murder Was the Case preceded his efforts on Dogg Pound's 1995 era-establishing debut, Dogg Food, and his work on 2Pac's All Eyez On Me. When asked whether or not he really gets his respect for all of his production work, the was was "no," but he's not too worried about it.

"I wasn't really stressing it like that back then but now... the residuals do," he said laughing. "But nah, I don't get the credit like I'm supposed to but I don't really trip because I give myself the credit when I'm at home... Half the people I know rent and I'm only paying property taxes so I know I came up."
