Acclaimed MC and Rock The Bells host, Torae, was on hand as Vice President Kamala Harris celebrated Hip-Hop's 50th anniversary at her residence for the latest edition of Hip-Hop As It Happens.

Featuring appearances from Common, Lil Wayne, Remy Ma, Fat Joe, Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh,Roxanne Shanté, MC Lyte, and more, Harris said hip-hop is “the ultimate American art form” that “shapes every aspect of America’s popular culture.”

"We're at the VP's representing Hip-Hop right now," said Too $hort, who was also in attendance to perform his hit, "Blow The Whistle." "It's a beautiful thing that the Hip-Hop doors have opened this wide."

“It has always channeled the voices of the people. It tells the stories that don’t make the news,” she said, before watching performances with her husband Doug Emhoff. “This is a Hip-Hop household!” Emhoff said.
