Uncle Luke took to social media to proclaim that he started southern Hip-Hop 40 years ago, and no one is giving him credit. "The question of the day is, I started Hip-Hop in the south, in 1985 right here in Miami," the mogul said. "My question is why ain't nobody talkin' about it," he continued.

"40 years! This year is 40 years. We should be havin' celebrations all over the south. The birth of southern Hip-Hop. The people in Miami should be talkin' about it. Why y'all ain't talkin' about it? It would be givin' me too much credit, huh. Don't take my word, Google 1985 'Throw The D'".

A few Hip-Hop legends commented on the live video showing both support and dislike. "Facts!" said Public Enemy's Terminator X. "Leadership" said Big Gipp of the Goodie Mob. "You did indeed bro," said DJ Pooh. Bass legend MC ADE of 4-sight Records voiced his disagreement at what he viewed as an inaccurate clam. "How can you tell a lie with such a straight face," he asked. "4-Sight records started 'Hip-Hop' in the south and with our first production which was 'Beef Box' featuring MC Chief and Sexy Lady which was released in 1984, and it’s not like Luke doesn’t know this!

He was a fan of 4-Sight and we inspired him that he could make records and we were in talks with him about distributing his first record because we were an established label already so I don’t know what he means by he started Hip-Hop in the south that is a blatant bold face lie and there’s no confusion on that issue".
