Trina Delivers 'The Baddest' Performance on NPR's 'Tiny Desk'

Hip-Hop veteran Trina is the latest guest to feature on NPR's popular series, Tiny Desk.

"I wanna introduce you guys to the baddest bitch," Trina told the audience of her Tiny Desk. "The original baddest bitch."

The Miami rapper arguably laid the blueprint for many of the women rappers on the scene, and her showing on Tiny Desk displayed the extent of her influence as she ran through classic tracks including "Da Baddest Bitch" and her breakthrough "Nann N---." She fought back tears as she opened with "Mama," a dedication to her late mother who passed away from cancer in 2019. She also delivered fan-favorites, "Single Again" and "Here We Go."

"I believe in who I am. The game didn't make me; I made the game. I made it," she said in her Louder Than A Riot interview before recording this Tiny Desk concert. "I already came in with a motive and an initiative to know who I am from. That's why I breed a whole universe of bad bitches.

In an interview with Rock The Bells, Trina explained how consistency has led to her success throughout the decades.

"Consistency is the key to everything," she said. "You've got to stay consistent, you've got to stay focused, you've got to stay determined. It's not always peaches and cream, it's not always glitz and glam. Between some of that is smoke and mirrors. So I feel like [it's about] the consistency, and staying focused. Smash your foot on the gas and go after what you want. Don't let nobody get in the way of or stop that. And get away from distractions. Sometimes it's kind of hard to stay focused in the game. Every record may not hit, but consistency is always gonna win."
