The 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards are scheduled to air next Tuesday (Oct. 10), and many Hip-Hop legends will be honored.

Among those receiving honors are producers and Verzuz founders Timbaland and Swizz Beatz. The duo will receive the Rock The Bells Cultural Influence Award from Rock the Bells founder and CEO LL COOL J. The award will honor the pair for their contributions to Hip-Hop, as well as their creativity and influence.

Tim and Swizz provided high level entertainment during the pandemic, as they founded one of Hip-Hop’s biggest cultural phenomenon's in recent history. Born of an online beat battle between Timbaland and Swizz, Verzuz put talent as diverse as Stephanie Mills, Teddy Riley, The Isley Brothers, The Lox, and E-40 on stage to engage in a showcase of their biggest hits. The platform became so popular that a documentary titled, Gifted & Black that chronicles Verzuz is in the works.

In addition to presenting the Rock The Bells Cultural Influence Award, LL COOL J will team up with rap legend Rakim for a tribute to this year's I Am Hip-Hop award recipient DJ Marley Marl. The super producer was responsible for LL's critically acclaimed Mama Said Knock You Out, and Eric B. and Rakim's debut single "Eric B is President"/"My Melody."

Marley's influence as a radio DJ on New York's WBLS, a legendary producer, and innovator in sampling, has influenced legendary producers such as Pete Rock, DJ Premier, The RZA, and The Alchemist. Marley is also the head of the legendary Juice Crew collective which includes Roxanne Shanté, MC Shan, Kool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane, Craig G, Masta Ace and the late Biz Markie.
