Styles P and Bun B Talk Healthy Eating: "That's Why Juices for Life Is in the Hood"

Bun B of UGK and Styles P of The Lox connected in a recent Rock The Bells IG Live interview about the Trill Mealz Food court at the upcoming Rock The Bells Festival (August 6). Bun B is curating the food court and Styles P and Jadakiss will be on hand with their Juices For Life brand.

The conversation quickly focused on the need for healthy eating and lifestyles, specifically in Hip-Hop. Styles P says that he first felt the need for a lifestyle change after a 2003 incarceration.

"I knew I had to do something to stay out of trouble, and I knew that I wasn't eating healthy. It was a combination of things," he said. "I wanted to do better for myself and put myself in a different place. After I got out in 2003, I was a vegetarian from 2003 until 2013."

Styles says that after eating meat at holiday functions in 2013 he didn't feel well and "went hard" with a 3 week cleanse and rededication to healthy living.

I felt better with no more post nasal drip, no more sinusitis, no more excess mucous, I wasn't heavy and my eczema left

After his lifestyle change, P said there was "no turning back."

"I felt better with no more post nasal drip, no more sinusitis, no more excess mucous, I wasn't heavy and my eczema left," he said. "I still have a bad temper, but it's simmered down a lot."

Bun asked P whether his health improvements inspired him to spread the word to his people in the hood.

"Yeah that's why Juices For Life is in the hood," P replied. "We don't go to the doctor enough, we don't have enough health insurance, and Hip-Hop leads the way for most of the world. Me and you are fortunate enough to come up in a time when Hip-Hop gave us a lot of education and taught us our roots and things we didn't know about. The gatekeepers haven't been doing that as much. We have to give the information back to the poor people."

Bun B's Trill Burgers and Styles P's Juices For Life will participate in the Trill Mealz Food Court at the Rock The Bells Festival on August 6, along with Nas' Sweet Chick, E-40's Goon With A Spoon, Ghostface Killah's Killa Koffee, and Mia X's Team Whip Them Pots. See the interview above.
