Legendary Oakland MC Saafir The Saucee Nomad, born Reggie Gibson has died at age 54. The MC, producer,and actor was a member of The Golden State Warriors with Ras Kass and Xzibit. Saafir and members of The Hobo Junction battled Casual and Hiero in 1994, bringing massive attention to the Bay Area Hip-Hop scene.
Xzibit announced his passing on IG earlier today. "I can’t believe I’m writing this right now, but don’t know what else to do at the moment," he posted. "Approximately at 8:45am this morning, my brother Reggie known to the world as Saafir passed away. We have so much history I can’t even explain what I’m feeling right now. We surrounded him and let him know how much we loved him. He can rest now."
Saafir was 2Pac's roommate, and a dancer for Digital Underground. He also appeared on their 1993 album, The Body Hat Syndrome. Saafir also made an appearance in the 1993 film Menace II Society. His debut solo album, Boxcar Sessions debuted in 1994 on Quincy Jones' Qwest Records.
