In a recent interview with Stephen A. Smith, Snoop Dogg was asked which coast had the biggest influence on Hip-Hop and Snoop said the east.

"Definitely the east coast because the east coast started Hip-Hop," he said. "The east coast is the epicenter. It has the biggest impact where it was born and developed."

Smith agreed adding, "I'm not throwing no shade on the west coast,'cus I love the west coast, but it did start with the east coast and obviously somebody had to set the stage."

Many fans were displeased with Snoop and accused him of being a regional trader. "Crazy Snoop would say this. PAC would be appalled," a user wrote on the Hip-Hop Wolf's repost of the video. "He’s right but idk how long that will be true. NY hasn’t been the Mecca of hiphop in over a decade," another wrote.

Snoop made news recently when he announced that he was joining Neko Sparks bid to purchase the Ottawa Senators hockey team. "Amazing what Neko Sparks is trying to do in Ottawa," he posted to his 80 million IG followers. "I'm looking forward to being apart of that ownership team. I WANNA BRING HOCKEY TO OUR COMMUNITY."

According to The Athletic, Snoop is one of more than over a dozen investors, including several people of color along with Sparks who have shown real interest in purchasing the team. If the deal is finalized, Sparks would be the first Black NHL owner in history. The Remington Group supported by actor Ryan Reynolds' investment has also shown interest in purchasing the Senators and is considered a frontrunner. The purchase could draw a price tag of $1 billion.
