Snoop Dogg Defers His Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction Until 2024

Snoop Dogg has deferred his induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Two days before the induction ceremony, Billboard reports the Hip-Hop legend had to push his induction to 2024 for "personal reasons." Snoop will now be inducted with the class of 2024 on June 13, 2024.

Snoop's announcement makes him the second of the seven songwriters who were originally announced as inductees to defer their induction. Sade Adu also postponed her induction, saying that she'll be inducted with a future class.

Glen Ballard, Gloria Estefan, Jeff Lynne, Teddy Riley and Liz Rose – are still onboard. Tim Rice will be honored with the Johnny Mercer Award, while Post Malone will receive the Hal David Starlight Award, which “was established to honor gifted songwriters who are at an apex in their careers and are making a significant impact in the music industry via their original songs,” according to the SHOF.

Snoop Dogg also recently postponed his concerts with Dr. Dre in support of Doggystyle's 30th anniversary. He was more clear about the reason those dates were pushed, however, saying the rescheduling is in support of the ongoing WGA strike. The new concert dates are Oct. 20 and Oct. 21.

“Due to the ongoing WGA strike and the DGA and SAG/AFTRA negotiations, we have decided to postpone the shows scheduled for June 27 and June 28 at the Hollywood Bowl. We stand in solidarity with the unions and are hopeful that the AMPTP will negotiate fair deals as soon as possible and everybody can get back to work," Snoop said on Instagram. “We gotta move that date,” he said in the accompanying video. “Make sure y’all get y’all tickets and stay on point and stay on deck.”
