The public beta version of Serato Stems was released yesterday ((10/3), with a full release expected later this year in both Serato DJ Pro Lite 3.0 and DJ Pro3.0.
Existing Serato users can experience a trial version via the beta, allowing them to provide feedback to help with improvements on the final version. The isolating tools included in Serato Stems allow the user to separate vocal, melody, bass and drums from any track on the fly, with superior sound quality. DJ Jazzy Jeff calls the advancement "other level."
"There have been certain groundbreaking things that have changed in the art of DJing; the invention of Serato, not having to carry records, the invention of Phase, not having to worry about vibration in a live setting,β Jeff said, according to Music Radar. βI think Serato Stems will be bigger than all of them from a creative standpoint. This is about to be the most fun I've ever had DJing. I'm telling you, my brain is on fire.
Because of the required processing power, the software is ideal for users with an M! or M2 Mac. Those with slower systems can pre-analyze files by dropping them into a stems folder, essentially doing much of the heavy work on the front end.
