Season 2 of Issa Rae's acclaimed MAX series, Rap Sh!t will now arrive in November after being pushed back due to the writer's strike, and with it comes a soundtrack that intentionally features some of the most talked about rising women rap artists on the scene.
As reported by Global Grind, the new soundtrack, Rap Sh!t: The Mixtape (Soundtrack from the Max Original Series, S2), combines original music created for the series and performed by its lead characters Shawna and Mia. It also features artistslike Sexyy Red, Rico Nasty, Kaliii, Maiya The Don, and more, while Guapdad 4000, NCognita, and Suni MF have writing credits on the soundtrack. Producers Danja, Bankroll Got It, and HitKidd are also featured on the project.
The first single of the soundtrack comes courtesy of much-buzzed about artist, Sexxy Red with the single “No Panties."
“I’m happy that I got to work on ‘No Panties’ for Rap Sh!t,” Sexyy Red said in a statement. “It’s just me having fun on the beat and talking my sh*t. It’s just like the show: the rap girls running this sh-t.”
Compiled and released by Raedio, the record label founded by Issa Rae, in partnership with Def Jam Recordings, the soundtrack aims to show the diversity of women artists in current Hip-Hop. The soundtrack and new season of Rap Sh!t arrive on Nov. 9.
