Exactly a year ago Nas and DJ Premier teased their long awaited joint album on their single, "Define My Name". In a recent IG post where Nas wished Preemo a Happy Birthday, he included a screenshot of his calendar, which included several weeks of blocked off studio time with the producer. Fans noted that one of the sessions is booked for the last week in April in the Bahamas, with the weeks of March 23, and March 30 booked as well.

Premier was one of five producers on Nas' critically acclaimed debut, Illmatic, which also included Pete Rock, Q-Tip, Large Professor, and L.E.S. Preemo produced "N.Y. State Of Mind", "Represent", and "Memory Lane". Since Illmatic the duo has collaborated on "N.Y. State of Mind Pt. II", "Nas Is Like", "Beat Breaks", and the previously mentioned "Define My Name". Fans have been awaiting the collaboration which has been teased a few times throughout the year.
