Questlove, a notorious music nerd/historian, is auctioning off records from his personal collection.
Per Hybeast, the multi-hyphenate is teaming up with the livestream shopping platform Whatnot to auction off some of his vinyl with all proceeds benefiting the Future of Food Entrepreneurship Program and the Food Education Fund — the first program connects high school students with companies in the sustainable food space, while the other is a nonprofit that works with culinary-focused public high school students.
Among the offerings up for auction are The Awakening’s Hear Sense Feel (1972), The Soul Searchers’ Salt Of The Earth (1974) and The 24 Carat Black’s Ghetto Misfortune’s Wealth (1973). The Cannonball Adderly Quintet’sWhy Am I Treated So Bad (1967), James Brown’s Hot Pants (1971) and Kool & The Gang’s Music Is The Message (1972), among others.
In addition to the auction, one fan will be invited to come with Questlove for a shopping trip at A-1 Record Shop in New York for National Record Store Day on April 22. The auction kicks off this Friday, April 7 — the livestream will be hosted by Questlove.
