Pras Michel of The Fugees has been convicted of 10 finance related federal charges including money laundering and campaign finance violations according to NBC News.

Pras was found guilty of using illegally obtained monies to gain access to former President Barack Obama during his 2012 presidential campaign and utilizing millions more to bank roll an expensive lifestyle. Pras was also convicted of violating FARA laws because he was working on behalf of a foreign national without registration. it is alleged that Pras charged a foreign national $20 million for the opportunity to be photographed with then President Obama.

Prosecutors alleged that Michel funneled $800,000 of that payout to Obama’s campaign through several straw donors. That same national approached Pras again in 2017, when Donald Trump was President and directed more than $100 million to Michel, in an effort to push the government to drop its investigation against him. Pras' lawyer David Kenner said that he was "extremely disappointed" at the outcome of the case.

"We are of course very disappointed, but I am very confident in the ultimate outcome of this case,” Kenner said in a statement to Newsone.

Pras rose to stardom as one third of rap group The Fugees. The Fugees released two full length albums, 1994's Blunted on Reality and 1996's The Score. The groups breakout album The Score was released in February of 1996 and produced the singles "Fu-Gee-La", "Killing Me Softly", "Ready or Not" and the Bob Marley remake "No Woman No Cry". The Score rose to the #1 spot on the U.S. Billboard 200 and won the Grammy for Best Rap Album and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for the Roberta Flack remake "Killing Me Softly".
