Papoose will carry on the legacy of his mentor, the legendary DJ Kay Slay, by taking over as host of Kay Slay’s radio show THE DRAMA HOUR. LL COOL J’s Rock the Bells Radio and SiriusXM made the announcement today (Aug. 8).
Of course, DJ Kay Slay's show is the stuff of Hip-Hop legend, and THE DRAMA HOUR is recognized as one of the most important radio shows of all-time. Kay Slay’s radio show helped launch the careers of numerous renowned artists including 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar, Papoose, Nipsey Hustle, Fat Joe, Remy Ma, and many more. Papoose said he's honored to carry on the legacy of Kay Slay, who passed away in 2022 following complications from COVID-19.
“I wanna give special thanks to the living legend LL COOL J for understanding how important this show is to Hip-Hop. What he’s doing with Rock the Bells is phenomenal, it’s preserving the culture & taking it to the next level at the same time. Thanks for granting me the opportunity to carry on the legacy of my brother Kay Slay. I was with Slay every step of the way! I know what he stands for, represents, & brought to the game as a whole. I could never fill his shoes, but I’m excited to continue what he worked so hard to establish. God is the greatest!!! Y’all thought it was over? Long Live the Drama King. Street sweepers for life!"
