ODB's Daughter Brought To Tears After Getting Tattoo In His Honor

Ol' Dirty Bastard's daughter, Taniqua Jones, was brought to tears after getting a tattoo in tribute of him on Father's Day.

"This is so nice," she said, before briefly breaking down. "Whole arm piece, it's not a half sleeve, it's a whole arm. My story behind my tattoo is that my father passed away when he was 35, two days before his 36th birthday. He has an album called Return To The 36 Chambers, he returned to his 36th chamber. My concept was to have honey combs that represent his chambers, so I'll have 36 honeycombs on my body. We also did a song with my father called 'Damage' and I want the lyrics from that song flowing throughout my tattoo."

In a recent podcast with D.C.'s National Hip-Hop Museum, Dante Ross — who signed Ol' Dirty to Elektra Records — shared an ODB story.

"He was always like that - unhinged and it got worse. Drugs, money, fame," he remembers. "I produced a doc on Ol' Dirty with Sam Pollard and his son Jason so I spent a lot of time going back through his story and piecing it together. Most people aren't made for fame and fortune - The Beasties and De La are two of the only acts I've seen who were unchanged by fame and fortune. They remained themselves and didn't bug out and buy sports cars, get caught up with drugs and have 18 kids and all that shit. Dirty wasn't cut out for fame and fortune. He was bipolar, he had mental and substance abuse issues and he was raised in group homes. All of a sudden he got everything he ever wanted. When you combine that with the drugs its a cautionary tale for lots of people."
