During a quick, on the spot interview with TMZ, Memphis Bleek said he's still hoping for a Jay-Z collaboration to happen, but don't hold your breath.

“I’m on that boat, too. I wish,” Bleek said, as pointed out by Hip-Hop Wired, about wanting a collaboration, although he said it's honestly not likely to happen any time soon. “Hov too far gone, man! I was supposed to try this when he had $100 million, not a billion. When you got a billion, it’s hard to get you in the booth. Only his wife can do it.”

Of course Jay-Z and Beyoncé dropped Everything Is Love in 2018, though Jay's last official project was 2017's 4:44. He did drop what was essentially a collaboration album with Jay Electronica in 2020, A Written Testimony. Bleek said he's still hasn't given up hope that one day it'll happen.

“I’m trying,” he said. “I sending joints. I get shot down like a clay pigeon. Something going to stick one day. If we can drop an EP together come on now."

He may not have a Jay-Z collaboration on the menu anytime soon but that hasn't stopped Bleek from having his lyrics quoted by iconic Hollywood stars. Earlier this summer, Barbra Streisand used a bar from Memphis Bleek to emphasize her point about Donald Trump's ongoing legal woes.

“Trump is going to be indicted for stealing classified documents,” she wrote (Trump has since been indicted). “He is going crazy with his tweets urging his cult to ‘FIGHT.’ We remember what happened on January 6th. ‘The strong are quiet, the weak start riots.’ – Rapper Memphis Bleek.”

Memphis Bleek was super excited that Babs showed him love. “They quoting the kid out here!!” he wrote alongside a screenshot of her tweet. “@barbrastreisand #BarsThatMeanSomthing.”
