Lil' Lep of the legendary New York City Breakers has died. Lep, born Ray Ramos was briefly a member of the Rock Steady Crew, and was called Lep (short for Leprechaun) because he stood only 4 ft 8 and weighed 89 pounds, according to New York City Breakers founder Michael Holman. "Lep was one of the most respected boys on the planet in the 70s and 80s," fellow New York City Breaker Mr. Wave told Rock The Bells.

He was my mentor and teacher, the man that made me into the B-Boy that I am today.

B-Boy Mr. Freeze of the Rock Steady Crew describes Lep as a masterful B-Boy who actually started with a crew called The 7 Deadly Sins. "Lep was part of a crew called The 7 Deadly Sins, and everybody knew that he was the main character and heavy hitter in the crew .

Everyone was afraid of that crew, and whenever Lep would come out, the simplicity of the basics that he used, he did with such a style and speed that his basic footwork to transitions to neck moves and swipes - he just made it look like a piece of artwork.

Watching him put these simple moves together, and it exploding into a service against another crew was just amazing. I was breaking for some years before I met him, however, he is the one that showed me particular fundamental basics that I did not have, which actually molded me into the B-Boy that I am."
