Killer Mike has dropped his new single "RUN." The track comes with a harrowing music video; and it features superstar comedian Dave Chappelle and embattled Atlanta trap star Young Thug.

The music video is directed by Adrian Villagomez, and opens with a Black soldier running through a field as Chappelle narrates. The comic compares being Black in America to storming the beach at Normandy on D-Day during WWII. Chappelle asserts that as long as you aren't laying on the ground dead, you have to keep running. And know that the culture has your back.

Mike dropped the song, his first solo single in a decade, on July 4th, Independence Day.

“The Fourth of July celebrates the founding of this Republic and the rejection of British tyranny through taxation,” Killer Mike explained to HipHopDX. “And the first person to die in the name of this great Republic was a man named Crispus Attucks, who was a son of an African father and a native mother, which by the one drop rule makes him a Black man."

Mike continued.

“The first person to die on the behalf of America was a free Black man. True history is Crispus Attucks died for this country first. True history is if it had not been for cheap and free labor in the South, this country would not have become an economic dominator on the world stage in only 246 years. I wanted to make sure that was known on the day we celebrate this Republic.”
