Not long after the release of his super impressive animated feature film debut, the rom-com Entergalatic, Kid Cudi has announced he's exploring another creative endeavor, comic books. The Cleveland native is making his comic book debut with Moon Man, a contemporary reimagining of Miracleman.

Cudi revealed his plans on Oct. 14 at New York Comic Con. Moon Man is set to debut on January 31, 2024 and was written by Cudi in partnership with artist and director Kyle Higgins.

“Ive been secretly workin on this for over a year and its finally happening. Im so fuckin hype for u all to dive in. If you’re into comics, my hope is that this will be your new obsession," he wrote on Instagram. "Lot of love and hard work went into this, I am so proud to finally reveal my baby to the world. Told yall I was cookin up something special, in a world you’ve never seen me in. MAD SOLAR taken over mane!! Love to IMAGE Comics team for riding w me on this one and believing in my vision.”

The news follows Kid Cudi's recent link up with writer/actress/producer Issa Rae to voice the lead characters in the new animated series, Young Love. The series, which premiered in September on Max, draws its inspiration from the characters of the Oscar-winning short film, Hair Love, created by Matthew Cherry. The short film delves into the bond between an African-American father and his daughter, Zuri, highlighting the father's challenging endeavor of styling his daughter's hair for the first time. Young Love delves deeper into the lives of the family we met in Hair Love, providing a candid glimpse into the lives of the Young family - millennial couple Stephen and Angela, their daughter Zuri, and their pet cat Rocky. The series explores their navigation through career, marriage, parenthood, societal challenges, and intergenerational nuances, all the while aspiring for a brighter future.
