Jermaine Dupri: "The So So Def - Bad Boy Verzuz Is Happening"

After a spirited chat proclaiming they wanted to square off in a hit-for-hit battle, Jermaine Dupri has confirmed that he'll face off with Diddy in a So So Def Verzuz against Bad Boy. Talk about a battle taking place started back in September 2021.

JD made the announcement on stage at ONE Musicfest in Atlanta this past weekend. “I’m saying this to let y’all know the So So Def Bad Boy Verzuz is happening,” he confirmed to the crowd.

Back in August, the pair said they would do a "battle" not necessarily a Verzuz since Verzuz founders Timbaland and Swizz Beatz were in the midst of a legal battle with Triller at the time. Since that's now squared away, fans can expect to see two moguls square off.

Diddy and JD have a long history and friendship, dating back to Diddy's days in JD's hometown, Atlanta in the late 90s and early aughts. The two have gone back and forth over the past year about who would win in a battle. Diddy said Dr. Dre's the only producer who could contend with him, adding, “Your arms too short to box with God.” They then got on Instagram Live and got into a mini-shouting match as Diddy played Biggie's "One More Chance" to prove his point.

Dupri's response was to remind folks he's in the Songwriter's Hall of Fame in an interview at Atlanta's V-103. “I am in the Songwriters Hall of Fame,” he said. “Puff Daddy’s not in the Songwriters Hall Of Fame. Steve Stoute and the Trackmasters are not in the Hall of Fame. I shouldn’t have to play nothing. I am in a seat that Puff Daddy can’t pay for.”

No word as of yet on when what's sure to be an entertaining Verzuz will take place.
