Jay-Z is a featured guest on an upcoming airing of CBS Mornings where he gives co-host Gayle King a tour of his Book Of Hov exhibit at at the Brooklyn Public Library.

During the interview, Jay revealed the origins of his nick name "One Take Hov." "The whole nick name came from the days when you were recording to tape, and you couldn't mess up, then you gotta go all the way back and cut the tape," he explained. "If you wanted to fly a chorus on this thing [reel to reel tape], you had to go to dinner. It took an engineer he had to cut the tape, [splice it], and fly it over here. I started learning my lyrics really good so I could do them one time straight down and I didn't waste time."

Jay has spoken previously in interviews about his recording process, not writing his rhymes down, and committing everything to memory.

"I don't write, I used to write when I was young," he said in a HipHopDX video clip. "I would write for hours and hours and that stream of consciousness comes to you all the time," he explained. "When I started moving into the streets I moved further and further away from my notebook. I would memorize these words and run to the house to write 'em down. When you do that you work up your memory, and my memory was gettin' stronger and stronger, and after awhile I was retaining four or five songs at one time. I lost plenty of material that way as well so I wouldn't suggest it to anyone."

The CBS Mornings interview airs this Thursday and Friday (10/26 and 27) at 7a.m. ET on CBS. Check out a snippet above.
