The House Party reboot is now headed to theaters. After initially being shelved on HBO Max, the film will now be heading to theaters thanks to Warner Bros. Discovery restructuring.

The film, which is based on Reginald Hudlin's 1990 hit starring Kid 'n Play, will star Jacob Latimore, Tosin Cole, DC Young Fly, Melvin Gregg, Rotimi and Bill Bellamy. Music video director Calmatic will make his film directorial debut with a script written by Atlanta writers Jamal Olori and Stephen Glover. LeBron James and his longtime business partner Maverick Carter serve as producers, while Hudlin signed on as an executive producer.

“It’s an entirely new look for a classic movie,” James told The Hollywood Reporter in 2018. “Everyone I grew up with loved House Party. To partner with this creative team to bring a new House Party to a new generation is unbelievable.”

House Party will hit theaters Dec. 9.
