A stage play based on the classic 1991 Mario Van Peebles film, New Jack City, is hitting the stage. Big Daddy Kane, Treach, Flex Alexander, and Allen Payne, who also starred in the original film as G-Money, will star. Big Daddy Kane posted about the stage play, writing "the wait is finally over" in the caption.

In the years since it was released, New Jack City has been deemed a classic, ushering in a wave of thoughtful films about the infiltration of drugs into Black communities, and birthing a wave of pop culture sayings and references. In addition to Payne and Van Peebles, the movie also starred Ice-T, Wesley Snipes, Christopher Williams, Judd Nelson, Chris Rock, Bill Nunn and Vanessa Williams.

In addition to starring in the stage play, Big Daddy Kane recently featured on Kool G Rap's latest single, "Fly Til I Die" from his forthcoming album. He's also set to star in a new sitcom pilot called Daddy House, which will be directed by Terri J. Vaughn (The Steve Harvey Show,All Of Us, Meet The Browns), who will also star as Kane's wife. Treach, who's had a long film career stretching back to the early 90s, recently starred in the BET series, The Family Business.

The New Jack City stage play will hit several cities including Atlanta, LA, Washington D.C., Baltimore, and Detroit among others. The run will kick off in Philadelphia on Nov. 4. Tickets are available now.
