The Library of Congress announced its annual list of 25 movies that made the cut for its National Film Registry, and the Hip-Hop classic, House Party, starring Kid 'n Play made the cut.
The films are selected for their cultural, historic or aesthetic importance to preserve the nation’s film heritage, and writer/director Reginald Hudlin's hit certainly fits the bill. It catapulted Kid N Play to super fame, launching their string of films including two more House Party movies and Class Act as well as their own cartoon. It also stands as one of the best rapper-led films of all-time, brilliantly capturing a memorable era in the early 90s.
Hudlin expressed his excitement about the recognition. "So proud of this moment! So grateful," he said.
