Legendary Brooklyn battle MC Sparky D, who rose to national prominence during the 'Roxanne Wars" of the mid 80's has returned with a new documentary chronicling her music career, and her battles with substance and domestic abuse. She is also set to release new music. Reel Sung Productions, owned and operated by Mr. Wave of The New York City Breakers has finished production on Sparky's documentary, Sparky D's Hip-Hop Secrets.

MC Shan, Roxanne Shante, Kurtis Blow, MC Lyte, Salt of Salt n Pepa, Spyder D, and DJ Red Alert are amongst Sparky's peers who share stories of her history as of one of Hip-Hop's most fierce battle MC's, and her resilience in the face of her battles and personal demons that threatened to overtake her.

In an exclusive interview with Rock The Bells, Sparky shared details about the film, and her upcoming projects. "I originally met Mr. Wave back in '84 at the Roxy's during the auditions for Beat Street where I was an extra," she explained. "I met the New York City Breakers and everybody at that time."

Sparky recalls that a show at S.O.B.'s indirectly led to her film becoming a reality. "A few years ago I was performing at S.O.B.'s with Melba Moore and Skyy, and Mr. Wave was in the audience. He told me that he thought that I still had it, and asked if I was interested in doing a film on my life. It took us about three years to complete the project."

Sparky says that she wants her film to serve as inspiration to women who have been through similar trials and tribulations. "God can do all things but fail", says Sparky who has been an ordained minister for the last 15 years. "I'd like for my story to inspire and encourage other women to allow their voice to be heard. Most of the time we hide the trauma and everything that we go through, but if somebody stands up and is able to talk to the women and let them know that it's gonna be OK, their voice can be heard, and they can learn their worth."

Sparky is releasing a new album next year, The First, The Best, The Last Of Sparky D, produced by Herb Middleton and a team of other producers. "There's only one Hip-Hop song, and the rest are Gospel Hip-Hop," she reveals. In addition to new music, Sparky is releasing a line of fragrances called Hallelujah and a series of daily devotion books titled, God's Got Your Back Like A Jacket. She's on Instagram everyday at 12 noon for 12 O Clock Prayer @sparkydmusic.
