Faith Evans, the widow of The Notorious B.I.G. told The People's Party that the late Hurricane G was instrumental in her meeting the rap icon.

She detailed how a chance meeting at Redman's house led to their introduction. "Many people don't know, that one day I had a photoshoot for Bad Boy and I dropped my daughter off at Redman's house," the singer said. "Gloria — Hurricane G was there, and she was like 'Yo you goin' to New York? Take me back to Brooklyn!'"

Faith explained that she was just about to sign to Bad Boy, and that Puffy was there with his new artist, The Notorious B.I.G. "When B.I.G. saw me and her there, and she was already poppin' he was like 'How you know her?' He didn't know me, and he asked could we drive him back to Brooklyn because she had probably already told him that we were going to Brooklyn."

Hurricane G died recently (11/6) of unknown causes. The celebrated MC was part of The Hit Squad conglomerate of MCs with EPMD, Keith Murray, Das EFX and Redman. Most rap fans were first introduced to her on Redman's "Tonight's The Night" from his 1992 debut album Whut? Thee Album, where she instructs Redman in the intro to "Get off that smooth shit, and get with that rough shit." We heard from her sporadically after that introduction and being name-dropped by Redman. In an undated YouTube video, she attributed the delay to "politics and personal stuff."

Hurricane G's only full-length album, All Woman, was released in 1997 on H.O.L.A. Records and produced primarily by Domingo Padilla. Domingo described Gloria to ROCK THE BELLS as a one-of-a-kind soul. "Jellybean Benitez who produced Madonna very early signed Hurricane G and asked me to get in the studio with her to produce the album," he told ROCK THE BELLS. "We clicked right away and bonded for years to come. She was a true Hip-Hop artist that will truly be missed." Over the course of her career, she worked with Busta Rhymes, Puff Daddy, Smif-n-Wessun, Thirstin Howl The 3rd, and Xzibit. Her single "Somebody Else" charted at #10 on Billboard's Hot Rap Singles and #54 Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles.
